Born, raised and educated in New York and then after many years of living in Florida, and Virginia I settled in Colorado with my family. During one of our first trips to the mountains in 1995 I was in awe at the natural beauty of my surroundings. It was as though the photographs on greeting cards, post cards and books came to life. Now I pursue what was once a dormant interest in photography.
I'm rarely without my camera, I travel with my family and close friends capturing "stolen moments" of life. I like landscape and nature the best and use photography to show people how fragile our surroundings are. Most of the photos are taken on trips or day hikes. These times provide me with ultimate and endless possibilities, most notably the chances to enjoy the magic God has created. My appreciation for art and nature has grown during this time along with my passion for photography. My equipment consists of 2 film SLR Canon cameras, a Pentax 6x7 medium format camera and a Canon 5D digital camera. I use Canon lenses; the 24-105 is my most used lens, then the 17-40, 50 prime lens and the 100 macro. At times I still use my film camera but am very much enjoying the new experiences with my digital camera.
I live in Golden and love the community. I spend most mornings before going to work walking around Clear Creek. I love making images featuring the natural and created sights in and around Golden. I also love to travel and spend time in National Parks, state parks and the forests capturing "stolen momennts" of course. For me, these times are inspirational and make me yearn for more as they bring me peace and solitude. It's a wonderful and exhilarating experience to be part of a sunrise where the mountain turns a brilliant orange or the sky colors of purple and red.
My photos of Golden are sometimes found on the cover of "The Golden Informer", a monthly community newsletter.
I have won two awards; one for a banner contest Golden had a few years ago, and again for the First Jefferson County Open Space contest. Orange Cost Magazine in California has used one of my photos for their travel section to promoting Golden.
Recently I was contacted by The Community Marketing Manager for the use of my photos for The Community Marketing Program, Visiting Golden.
I am always planning my next adventure with the hope of finding a new challenge to share through my photos.
